A Fond Memory

I seen this old wood stove tonight while I was out to dinner with Herb, it brought back memories of canning with Mom on her wood stove. It was in 2001 that I spent two weeks with Mom, we would get out of bed at 6am and spend our days canning not seeing our beds until at least midnight. One would have thought we canned for an entire army! The laughs, sharing of recipes and quality time with my Mom are all fond memories I will treasure forever.

One day I too shall have a wood stove in my kitchen, there's nothing like a home cooked meal prepared on one of these stoves!

  1. We used to have a stove like this..not exactly the same, but almost the same. Oh how I would love to get my hands on one..would have to pay big bucks I'm sure. So nice to hear that you will have treasured memories to keep forever.

My camera is a Sony DSLR 350 :) Some of these point and shoot cameras can take some pretty neat shots too..

    Laterss..

  2. Where did you see the stove (or where did you and Herb go for supper)? I love it!

Awesome memories you have of canning with mom! What did you can, other than antipasto and peaches? I remember you and mom canning but I had no idea you spent that much time at it, it's exhausting just to think about!

  3. We went out to the ABC restaurant on the West end. As for canning it's more like what didn't we can? lol I remember doing spaghetti sauce, salsa, that HUGE batch of antipasto, about 120 lbs. of peaches, hmmm what else did we do? It's too early on my Sunday morning to think...not good, I'm going to get after my psychology here!

Although it was exhausting, it was such a "good" exhausting, but I think that I slept a whole bunch when I got back home, I was wiped I remember!

LOL, I just remembered Mom using my food processer for the first time, she had NEVER used a processer before and what a mess! Tomatoes all over the place, I never laughed so hard!
