Intimidation

Well here it is, now what do I do with it? I ordered my new camera from the U.S. and saved a fair amount of money in doing so. The camera arrived yesterday, delivered to my door and after paying the shipping and handling fees I cautiously opened the box.

Sure enough here it is, my new camera. I sat and played with it for a few hours and I'm still clueless as to what I'm doing with it. (I'm one of these people who doesn't like to read the instructions.) It's looking like I'm going to have to call in a pro, my sister Julie is the pro. I am hoping that she has some time this weekend to show me some of the basics. I am not going to allow the intimidation of not knowing stop me at all.

I never realized in the past that I have a passion for photography. Now for some odd reason I can see this new passion getting very expensive! Even though I don't have a clue how to operate my camera I was out looking at Macro lenses yesterday, some wonderful lenses, but OUCH... they'd hurt my pocket book!

Now back to my studies, darn distractions! :-)

  1. Hi Darlene!
The most beautiful and the safest way is to read instructions and follow manuals. You will not believe me from the very beginning but that's true. Beautiful for you and your future photos, and safe for your camera. :-)

    Have a very nice day!

  2. Thanks Luize. I will eventually get to the instructions. I'm too bogged down presently with school work to get to this... as tempting as it is, it's going to have to wait unfortunately. I do get three weeks off at Christmas which I am looking forward to though and can't wait!

Wishing you a wonderful day as well!

  3. Where online did you get it from? The only thing I get worried about with that is making sure the company will still honor the warranty if it's purchased in a different country. I've seen cases where they won't.

I've wanted a DSLR for awhile now, not sure if I'll end up getting one though. I want a HD camcorder as well so it's going to add up.

  4. I know exactly what you mean - I got a new Nikon D90 last February and I'm still trying to learn how to use it. I took it on my vacation a week after I got it and on the last day we were there, a very nice man, who happened to be a professional photographer, showed me how to use it. I got good pictures on the last day - figures.

Since then I've resorted to buying the Nikon for Dummies book but still haven't had time to get in to it. I love taking photos and want to make it a hobby. Good luck and have fun with your new toy.

  5. Oh Congratulations - you have a new baby just like mine. I just loooove my Canon. Seriously, when you get a few spare minutes read the book it does really help.

  6. Hey, Congratulations on your new camera!
I have a Rebel too but like you, don't like reading instructions. I really should one of these days.
I think we'd get way more satisfaction out of the camera if we do.
Have fun learning the ropes. :)

  7. Thanks all! I did order the book for dummies and will read all that I can once this semester is finished. I'm down to counting the days now which means huge prep. YIKES

I am sure Karen that I will get tons of pleasure out of this camera once I do learn the ropes.

Sandra, a complete stranger? That's awesome! I wonder where I can find me one of them kind photographers... where did you go on holidays? ;-)

Sandy I mentioned to Shayne were I ordered mine from, I also mentioned that I want to be good at taking photos for when my grandbaby arrives! I can't put a hugest smile here!
