Late this morning as I sat at my computer my phone rang, it was my oldest son asking if I'd like to go to the Farmers Market, I gladly said yes. I don't get to see my son and his wife that often as we all lead very busy lives and I haven't been to the Farmers Market in a very long time.
The Market is not too far from where I live, I just always seem to forget it's there as it's only open on Saturdays. The Market offers “a touch of the farm in the heart of the city" where fresh vegetables, fruit, baking, meats, fresh eggs, cheese and ethnic foods are offered. There's a wide selection of crafts, jewelry and art as well.
There is also live music, today I heard this band strumming on the banjo, there was also a harp and violin which preformed magnificently, and my psyc instructor from last year was there with her grandson who plays the cello.
It is quite the experience to visit the Market and naturally with being at the market I made a few purchases which included homemade black bean salsa, fresh guacamole, small whole wheat and caramelized onion pitas, chicken garlic sausage, pepperoni, and even some carrot dog treats for my sons dog!
Tonight for dinner I make a pitaza. I used one of the small pitas, added salsa, guacamole, fresh spinach and topped it off with a small amount of cheese, I put my creation in the microwave to melt the cheese, and talk about delicious! I am looking forward to making the farmers market a new weekly stop when time permits, it was that wonderful.
Excellent idea Shayne, thank you!
