Today was a busy day. I had a morning class, then I went to visit my friend at the old folks home and what a treat that was. I didn't interview today, today was birthday day at the home and what a treat that was! I sat and listened to some good old, really old, music. The Harmony Kings played for the elderly and was that ever amazing to see. Once the music started up the atmosphere changed, there's something about music that keeps everyone young at heart I believe.
After the birthday celebration it was off to take some photos for the Aboriginal Career Fair, tonight was the mixer and tomorrow is the Career Fair.
The Mayor was in attendance...
Teresa Woo-Pa, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Employment and Immigration was also in attendance... the following photo is Teresa with one of our Elders.
The mixer was phenomenal, I met so many people and reconnected with a few who I haven't seen in a very long time. I've discovered that taking photos is a fantastic way to network, so off to take more photos tomorrow at the Career Fair.... errrr in a few hours!
It's been a very busy yet rewarding day.

Sounds like a very fun and rewarding day!
ReplyDeleteI agree that music can make a huge difference! It can turn a dark mood into a smile!
I hope you have a wonderful time at the Career Fair today! :)
Oh what fun it is to follow such rewarding rolls in life...... I'm sure you make their day as well when you come to visit! I'm looking forward to your Career Fair phots! Have a great weekend ahead Darlin!
ReplyDeleteWHAT!?! How many hours are in YOUR DAY girl??
ReplyDeleteNothing better than to watch and be with those wiser than me...and they always have the most fun:)
Can't wait to see your new photos you capture in your (30 hour) day!:)
What a busy day,and time well spent. Have a great time at the career fair. Blessings jane
ReplyDeleteAndy, thanks... the Career Fair was awesome! What a fantastic way to network, just grab my camera and off I go! :-)
ReplyDeleteKaren, thank you... I'm starting my Friday evening with a nap! lol Then I'll download the hundreds of shots I took today and hopefully start in essay after that. Never a dull moment in my world! lol
Dawn, the same amount as your day! It seems that neither of us need all that much sleep, you're always on the go as well AND teaching... and what's this now a part time evening job? Yes, I caught that somewhere in one of your posts or responses. Us Alberta ladies, I just don't know... maybe it's something in our air? Or maybe we just keep moving to stay warm? Whatever it is I just hope it keeps up, life's way to short to spend all my time sleeping! Oh, and good news... or I think good news, I was asked to do photos for a few other events by a few different people. I told them it depends on my university schedule and if I'm free I'm in there! I never seen this one coming at all but any money I make I can spend on new lenses! Wooohooo! lol
Jane, it sure was a busy day but what a fun day, just like today was as well!
Have a fantastic weekend everyone, keep on the sunny side... always on the sunny side! :-)
Busy but rewarding...doesn't get any better than that, does it? I think it's so good of you to spend time at the old folks home.
ReplyDeleteHow great that you might be busy with your photos! Good job!
I love busy, but fun, days!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, the only way it might be better is to have a hot tub to crawl into at the end of the day but other than that... no it doesn't get any better! :-) I've told those who are interested in hiring me to do photos for events that it all depends on studies, they come first. It is rather exciting I must admit, I like that I can get up close and personal with people... most don't mind at all. The camera sure opens up amazing conversations, from photo taking to life in general, what fun!
ReplyDeletePam, I also love the lazy, laid back days too! lol
