Smart Cars

I have never liked the Smart car, I wouldn't feel safe driving one. However this one particular Smart car owner seems to be able to park anywhere, I just hope they move their car before the garbage men show up, they might take the car with the bin!

(This photo isn't the greatest, yet I'm sure it's clear
enough that you get my point!)

  1. Funny comment.
I so agree. I would feel like in the balloon when inside. With Moscow style of driving it is really dangerous way of transportation. But parking has its points..

  2. I don't care how smart they make the cars, if drivers keep getting more and more stupid what good is it? :)

  3. Oh my gosh, I never would walk away from my car like that, I would be so worried ...or maybe the car was there first, and then I would so want to be there to witness the car owners response to the person that put that dumpster there! What an amazing sight Darlin! You find the coolest stuff out in your day! Hope you have a great day!

  4. Irina, is this why so many people use the trains in Moscow? The only good point about one of these cars is the parking as far as I'm concerned, I sure wouldn't want to be out on a highway in one of these!

    Andy so true! lol

Karen, no the dumpster sits right where it is all the time. This is behind where I work part time. I think that we all see odd, cool, weird as well as beautiful things in our day, it's just a matter of taking notice and capturing it!

    Have a wonderful day everyone!

  5. It looks like they have hit the bin! I agree with you they are dangerous, there is no crumple zone. Sadly this could be the way forward given time.

  6. Don't worry about the safety in a Smart Car ;-)

These cars are more rigid that some 4 times bigger cars. Mercedes-Benz designed the cabin for the utmost passenger safety possible in a supermini car, it is called a "Tridion Cell" (The silver part in your above picture). This safety cell is like being protected by a motorsport homologated roll cage, the "Tridion Cell" is very stiff.

I even know an acquaIntance of mine that was hit sideways by a midsize truck at approx. 30 KM/H (18 MPH) which lost control on ice, and the only injuries she had were a few adequate bruises on her left arm (No Fractures).

A smart car has more inner values than one would think :-)

  7. hahahhhhaaa....oh I think it's funny:))))))
I don't like them all that much, but HAVE driven one before for a day...and you feel like there is a ton of room when you're inside!
I say...if they take up less parking space so I can park my good ol' van....then thank you to them;)))

  8. Si, I don't think that they could have gotten any closer than they did! lol

Joseph, I never knew that about these cars... I will still NEVER buy one though! lol I just googled the link you sent here and here's a really good reason NOT to buy one: "those areas which might be struck by pedestrians' heads were rated as predominantly poor." I don't need to knock this head of mine around any more then it has been, I'm blessed to have the few brain cells left that I have! lol I've heard of people getting into accidents with these cars and the same thing as with the acquaintance of yours, no major damage. I think that it doesn't matter what one is driving, if it's your turn nothing is going to protect you. And on that happy note... Cheers!

  9. I've seen lots on the roads and each one brings an inner chuckle - they just seem so incongruous here in NA. I can see where they'd be very useful navigating some of the pathways that double as streets in some European towns and villages.

I've also seen a documentary on their safety features and as Joseph mentioned, they have a lot of structural protection. Still ... tough to put a week's worth of groceries in one and still have room for the wife. and dog. and camera bag ! ;-)

    Lovely predicament you captured !

    Enjoy your week.

  10. LOL Rick, I like what you think to take along, for sure the wife, the dog and the camera bag also have to fit! I see how you have your priorities in check, that's awesome. The first thing I make sure heads out the door when I go anyplace is my camera, then the computer and my dog if she's coming, the suitcase is also a must for a road trip and yup, that's all I need room for! lol

Thanks Rick and I hope you also have a fantastic week. I'm looking forward to more photos of beautiful grandchildren! God's way of rewarding us for raising teenagers! :-)

  11. Dawn, I read your comment earlier and cracked right up! That's too funny but yes for sure you can thank the smart car owners for leaving room for your van! lol

  12. I'd feel like meat in a trash compactor if I drove one of those things. You're safer driving a golf cart on the freeway.

  13. LOL LL, all you'd need to put on the top of the smart car is a giant can opener!
