Today I planted almost all of my garden, I don't know how it happens but after trying to downsize it this year it's still huge!
This afternoon we went to town and I left the sprinkler on to water down the garden, when we got back there was more then enough water out there. I wanted to turn the sprinkler to go the other way and talk about mud! At first I was ready to turn around and say forget it, then the kid in me kicked off my shoes and in I went... what fun!
I forgot the feeling of having mud ooze between my toes, now I wonder why I don't do things like this more often. It's like going down a slide after a downpour and landing in the puddle which has accumulated at the bottom. I think that my inner child has surfaced, something tells me I'm going to have one heck of a fun summer!
By the way, the garden is fine, I'm trying a new concept this year. I've planted a few rows by hilling the rows before planting, the neighbor does it and she says it's so much easier to weed. I'll try (almost) anything once! The mud was between the rows so all is well, I didn't drown out my seeds.
Ooh this looks like so much fun. I also love the feeling of mud on my feet - my first instinct is always no I shouldn't do it - then it is great fun.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your beautiful seedlings in full bloom.
I love this shot. Not something many would think to photograph, much less share but speaks volumes. I haven't done that in more years than I can count and yet I could feel the cool, slick mud squishing between my toes just looking at it. Sparked memories of the fun that went with the feeling.
ReplyDeleteFound you through Bruce's blog. Think I'll stick around.
I hope that you wash your feet before you get into bed.
ReplyDeleteBeverly next time you get a chance go for it! Trust me it'll be worth the effort. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Mustang, welcome to my corner of the world... and yup we're still here in remote Northern Alberta. I wasn't condemned to hell today nor was I swept off into the heavens. It's a good thing too, I was to busy playing in the mud and forgot all about it! lol
LL just cause there's chicks in the living room doesn't mean I don't wash my feet before coming in the house! I'm a country slicker I've determined, part country bumpkin and part city slicker. I suppose I should have bought the $80 rubber boots eh? LOL
I hope you all have a fantastic Sunday! Beverly that would be Monday to you. ;-)
Looks like fun! We filled the sandbox yesterday and the kids were in it right away. In the process of using the hose to clean off their feet and legs they managed to also make a pretty good mud puddle and proceeded to get even dirtier in it than they did in the sand! :)
ReplyDeleteAren't we all on Blogger a wee bit wee wee weey :-D
ReplyDeleteGreetz,
Joseph
rlol way to go, I'm green with envy and wished I had a garden now lol. I hope you walked it in to the house to make the moment complete lol.
ReplyDeleteSi
Andy where's the photos? I'd love to see your sandbox and the kids full of mud, what fun!
ReplyDeleteJoseph I believe that we all have an inner child, it's just a matter of allowing it to come out and play sometimes... and that I do! Life life to it's fullest, go ahead and get dirty, it's so much fun! Cheers.
Si you can play anyplace you spot puddles, just go along with someone who doesn't mind getting wet and jump in the puddles, that's tons of fun as well! I had to walk to the house with my feet caked in mud but stopped at the outside tap before coming in, I just washed the floors on Friday! Enjoy your evening and remember to get out and play sometime this summer... swinging is also so much fun, I'm going to do that one of these days, it's such a freeing feeling!
Good for you!
ReplyDeleteI just put up an entire post about the sandbox! I didn't get any pictures of the muddy feet but there's plenty of pictures of sand! :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I was mistaken. It isn't as big as I said. It only took 2 tons to fill it. :)
Kathy thank you! lol
ReplyDeleteAndy now why didn't I see that? I'll venture over to take a look. And ONLY 2 tons! lol Good for you!
Now THAT's what I call a 'stress reliever' ! Way to go Darlene - think about that the next time you're facing a paper deadline; it'll bring a smile to your face and the deadline will seem a little less important. It's all about perspective.
ReplyDeleteSo true Rick, I often ask myself is whatever I'm trying to allow to stress me if it's going to matter in 5 years, if the answer is no then I relax... and so far there's not much that's going to really matter in 5 years.
ReplyDeleteI just had brilliant idea, I should take some dirt home, fill an old tub with water and make mud then charge people $1 to wade in the mud... I'd be rich in no time at all! LOL Right... perspective! :-)
Haha, gardening is such a good way to de-stress! Although, if I can help it, I get as little mud on myself as possible.
ReplyDeleteIt's weird because, I can handle dog slobber and mud and such on me, but if it comes straight from the garden I freak out. I'm just bizarre like that though, haha.
Saz it sure is, I love playing in dirt obviously and that's different you can't stand garden dirt but dog slobber doesn't bother you. Dog slobber grosses me out! lol Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhhhhhhh (Again:) MY kind of playing in the mud:))) SO FUN! You and I would have quite a weekend in the country...especially if we left the sprinkler on at my place:))) NICE photo:))))
ReplyDeleteDawn you have to do this, take an hour or so and just play in the mud... it's so much fun! And I'm game. lol
