A Full Wonderful Day

First off... what's up with blogger? This is different and weird, but if this is the 'new and improved' blogger I suppose it's going to take some getting used to.... enough about that, I've got a lot to share with you all, it's been an amazing day!

I've left the APY Lands, the people I'm traveling with are wonderful people and it's been a lot of fun spending the day traveling with them. We made a few stops at some amazing places. The following place is a spot called the Breakaways, it's just outside of Cooper Pedy AND this is where the movie Mad Max was filmed.

The land generally isn't this green (I'd hardly call this green but apparently for this area it's green), I'm guessing that it has something to do with all the rain which caused some places to flood.

Isn't this absolutely amazing? I sure think so.

We also stopped off at the worlds longest fence, I'll post about this tomorrow. Does anybody know waht the fence is called... and anybody who is from Australia don't give it away k? For everyone else, it's NOT the Rabbit Proof Fence...and no googling it. :-)

Now off to bed, it's after 11 and it's up even before dawn to do the rest of the trip back 'home' to Adelaide. What a fantastic day it's been, I can't help but thank God for days just like today.

  2. Okay without google I'm guessing it's got to be made from nature. Like a wall/fence of evergreens or rocks and other unman-made fences. I am a fan of Mel and the movie! Enjoy your day!

    1. Brian the country here is stunning. Over this past two days we covered about 1500kms and I got to see so much. I'm so glad I purchased the 24-70mm before I left, these shots alone made it worth every last penny I paid for it! Have a wonderful weekend!

  6. I think the fence is to keep the Dingo out of the area. This is just a guess. I saw something about this on National Geographic, but it was a long time ago, so I am not sure.

    1. Red it sure is amazing country, it's almost surreal that I'm here... well until I have to get up at 5:30am! lol Sorry for ruining your guess, but that's the most common fence I believe and I figured most people would guess that one. I'll post the response in a bit. Cheers.

    1. Hi Diane, I flew to Alice Springs, caught the bus to Kulgera, from there to Pukatja via troupie. We were staying with a gentleman who traveled through the Lands so for the first week and a half I toured around to various communities with him and spent some time getting to know more about the education system out on the Lands. To come home... that was a real blessing in disguise. The Salvation Army came to Pukatja and I met some amazing people, I ended up traveling back with them. For some of the journey I was in a semi truck, and the other part of the journey home I was in a vehicle. I had such an amazing time this past two days and made some fantastic friends. Who knows, maybe it's going to be a train ride next? I'll have to check in to that... then I can say Planes, Trains, Buses, Trams, and Automobiles. ;-)

    1. Stewart it was an amazing time in the middle! From start to home it was a real learning curve and the sights I was able to see was phenomenal, I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat, maybe a bit different, but would definitely do it again! Cheers.
