Breakfast of Champions

Today I went out for a late breakfast with my roomie and the lady who lives next door to us in the student accommodations. It kind of felt like the last supper with the countdown being on til I board the plane.  I have known for quite some time that there is a pancake restaurant not too far from the residence but had never tried it so today was the day.

... the pancakes weren't bad, I had the banana ones, but the portions are small and it's expensive. Yup, banana pancakes, the breakfast of champions.

  1. I can remember getting a stack of pancakes in the USA and thinking they had given me my wives order as well as mine! I think there may be something to be said for smaller portions of pancakes!

PS: I know you are not responsible or anything that happens in the US because you are not from there!

    1. Stewart because pancakes are so cheap to make generally in Canada you get a rather large serving as well. There's usually at least 3 pancakes almost the size of the plate and it's a lot to eat in one sitting, but as I mentioned they're so cheap to make. We put them on the smorg the last place I cooked at and they sold like... well like hotcakes! lol Cheers.

  2. For some reason I always think I don't like pancakes much and never order them.

But every time I do end up getting some that come with a combo or something, I love them.

    Go figure.

    1. Shayne I'm the same way, I never go out of my way for pancakes but ya, when I order them about once a year they're delicious. French toast is another one of those things I don't ever think to order, but when I do it's also good.

  3. Maybe it is a gourmet pancake house. One never knows.

    1. Horst this place serves pancakes all day long so it definitely is their specialty. It's one of those tucked away restaurants, down a back lane so I'd never thought to go there before yesterday, I'm glad I did though, it was good. Cheers!

  4. I love going out for breakfast, which we don't do much because we have no Ihop or anything here, though we do have a Smitty's. I usually get a skillet. I have the feeling that us North Americans are used to bigger plates of food though, hence the overweightness of much of us! And, of course, the more it costs the less you get. (you could always have had some of those WeetBIx! ;)

    1. Joyce I've yet to try the WetBix, they seem like they'd be rather bland and boring. I'm not a breakfast person, not unless I have it at lunch time or I'll go out in the evening for a breakfast on the odd occasion. I don't care for Smitty's food, I find it overpriced and the quality just isn't there and I've never tried Ihop but we now have one in our city back home. Ewww, I just thought of my Vegimite experience, now that was nasty! lol Cheers, enjoy your day!

  5. I love pancakes (crepes actually) - I'm the acknowledged crepe maker at home. That sign sure looks deceiving - that's one huge stack of pancakes !

Nice shots of the gaol (jail ?). You might have heard that Kingston Pen is being closed down - it opened in 1835 ! Hopefully it's reopened as a tourist attraction later - the architecture rivals its notoriety.

Good luck with the packing. I'd ship an extra crate if I were you and put that koala in there; Elyssa would love it !

Wishing you a safe journey home Darlene !

    1. Crepes, yummmm, now I'd love to have some of those with peaches or strawberries, maybe blueberries... I might have to go out for lunch again today and find me some crepes. ;-) That's awesome you make them, they're so time consuming, but the taste is so delicious it's time well wasted!

I thought that the Kingston Pen was shut down already, I didn't realize it's still open and can't even begin to imagine the state it's in. That's a lot of years to have it operational. In Kingston they have so many beautiful buildings made from stone, I loved it there when I went to visit, wow that has to be about 20 years ago and then some! It's about time for another trip that way one of these years I'm thinking.

As for taking home the koala, shhhhh, I don't want them to know here it was me that broke into Cleland Zoo and took the adorable bear!

Thank you Rick, a few more sleeps and I'll be on the plane! Have a wonderful week and it's good to hear from you again... as always. Cheers.

    1. Red the best food is often the food we prepare, we know what our tastes are and have perfected our recipes to suit our buds. It was sad to leave, but exciting at the same time... as well as nerve wracking!
