I had full intentions of my first day at home being between my bed and the kitchen if I got hungry, well naturally that didn't transpire. It was my daughter and her boyfriend who picked me up at the airport, my car wouldn't start and my sons wipers weren't working on his car. I realized that I had a dead battery because I had failed to unhook one of the posts... oops. So I had to get a boost and it was off to get a new battery.
Then I remembered that I had no registration on my car, it had expired while I was away so that's now taken care of... and right, I no longer had a cell phone, I have one now. And my fridge, well I've never seen it looking so bare, so groceries were in order. But now that all is said and done I have truly realized there really is no place like home!
Now to try to get back on Canadian time, this could take some doing but soon enough I'll be back on track... I hope!

I know the feeling.
ReplyDeleteDiane live and learn eh? Have a fantastic week!
Deletewell that answers the question that I had in my mind..."I wonder if she's arrived home yet and how the adjustment is going"...now I know! nothing like the busyness/business of life to throw you right back into the middle of things ;) happy you're home safe and sound...enjoyed your trip to Australia!
ReplyDeleteThank you Theanne, yup home safe and sound and attempting to get settled in again which is proving to be a huge job, one thing at a time and it'll all come together. Have a fantastic week, cheers. :-)
DeleteWelcome back home!
ReplyDeleteI am too noisy today, missed my blogging friends so much during the fast moving days!
Thank you Irina, I'm missing my blogging friends as well and will have to spend a morning one of these days catching up to everyone! Have a wonderful week, cheers.
DeleteWelcome Home Darlin.
ReplyDeleteThank you Horst. It's sure some amazing weather we're having here... I got home just in time to enjoy some of it and get some flowers in my planters... ummm sometime this week if all goes as planned. Cheers.
DeleteMy guideline for getting back to "normal" time has always been one day for each time zone you crossed on your flight...
ReplyDeleteHmmm now I have to figure this one out, but it sounds like a good rule of thumb. Today wasn't bad but it seems this past two days I haven't had much of an appetite and just don't want to get to bed. I guess I'm savoring being home too much to sleep, that or I'm stuck on Australia time, but there I slept. It'll all come together, one day at a time. Have a wonderful week, cheers.
DeleteSo nice to see your blogs again from far away over the sea - it has been such a joy sharing your time in Australia with you.
ReplyDeleteHope you recover from your jet-lag soon - give yourself time.
Beverly thank you and it was amazing getting to meet you and your wonderful family. It's almost surreal that we're this many miles apart but still have managed to connect, I LOVE technology! :-)
DeleteHave a great week and I hope Sarah is on the mend soon!
Well I almost got tired from reading about your 'longest day' ! That beat our experience coming back from Greece a couple of years ago, but I could certainly empathize. Once you recover (by now hopefully), the tired feeling will simply become part of the story. I can imagine it must have been very difficult leaving on the one hand, but tempered by the feeling of anticipation of seeing family again.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adventure you've been through ! I'll bet you packed a lot of memories into that $95AUD box ;-)
And a gorgeous Alberta sunset you captured from the plane ! I'm sure you dealt with the usual coming home issues (empty house, no food, dead battery) with a stiff upper lip - after all, you were now back h o m e !
Welcome home !
Thank you Rick, it sure was a long journey but as you mentioned it's all a part of the tales I can now tell. It was hard to leave, but it was exciting, I was an emotional mess. It's eased up immensely now that I've reunited with loved ones, that and it's warmer here than it was in Adelaide. It's absolutely beautiful here, today we had a BBQ and it was too hot to sit outside. And this is coming from someone who's been in 40c without the zero in front of it. I found that the weather is so different, 15c near the ocean is cold, 15c here is shorts weather!
DeleteIt was so strange seeing 2 sunsets in one day, that sure was a double bonus!
Take care and we'll chat again one of these fine days, have a wonderful week!
Welcome home!! I bet it will take you a good 391/2 hours to get settled in...
ReplyDeleteThank you Bev, it's sure going to take at least that long and broken up over a few weeks I'm sure but it's all coming together. No hurry, if there's one thing I learned in Australia that life is more about having no worries than it is sweating the small stuff... even though today I felt a bit panicked to pull off a BBQ, well that is until I delegated and it all came off wonderfully! It was so awesome spending the afternoon with my children and grandchildren... children really are God's gift to us!
DeleteHave yourself a fantastic week!
The pleasures of jet lag?
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!
Red there can be a bonus to jet lag, when I don't feel like doing anything I can blame it on the jet lag! lol Thank you and I hope you have a fantastic week!
DeleteTo all of my faithful blogger friends, I plan on catching up to each of you within the next few days. I'm trying to get sorted after this amazing journey, but I miss reading about each of your adventures. Til I can make it over, take care and enjoy all that you do!
ReplyDeleteCheers.
What a way to start your return day. Make sure you have that quiet day between bed and kitchen. I intend to have mine one day next week.
ReplyDeleteDavine it's coming, I'm just not quite sure when... maybe today. I hope you're enjoying your trip, have a g'day!

Thank you Erika, it's so good to be home and I'm slowly getting settled in. It's going to take a bit of time but I'll get there, all one item and one day at a time.
DeleteHugs from Canada.
Darlin, Australia must have been a terrific experience, but what a joy to catch up with family, particularly your Grandaughter! Hope you settle back in! Regards!
ReplyDeleteHi there Shirleyanne, it was an amazing experience to visit Australia, well live there for 4 1/2 months and I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. I missed everyone immensely, especially little Elyssa but thankfully we've all gotten together and it was an amazing way to spend my Sunday afternoon.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, cheers.
