Mothers Day 2011

Today was such a lovely day. I went out for dinner with my son, my daughter-in-law, my granddaughter and my daughter. It was so nice, my son and his wife surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. My daughter bought me a very touching card and I got my gift early from all 3 of my children, my BBQ!

I got to see my granddaughter again today, twice in two days... what a treat!  My daughter took this photo with my camera but I'm breaking the rules and posting it anyways... it's my blog so I'll do what I choose to! :-)

All of my children are so thoughtful, I am blessed.  I hope all of you Mothers out there had a wonderful day... and guys I hope that you all had a fantastic day as well.

Elyssa's First Birthday Party

 Elyssa turned one on Thursday but her party was today. What a fantastic way to spend an afternoon, it's just so hard to believe that my sweet, adorable princess is one already!

This was taken just before the birthday party, the princess had to get ready after her nap! 

We had dinner then the fun began. It was time to open the gifts and there were plenty!

Daddy what are you doing with that? I wanna play with it!

After the gifts were all opened it was time to change,we still had to sing happy birthday and have cake!

Elyssa's other Gandma bought a special cake just for Elyssa...

and did she ever have fun with it!

A New Toy

Today I received the lens I ordered online about 5 days ago. Needless to say I had to check it out. I'm still not quite sure what I'm doing with it but from what I've seen thus far I know that I'm going to have me some fun!

I went out for a bit of a walk down by one of the man made lakes nearby. There were ducks, geese and a few other species of birds... a place I shall return to one of these days. 

After I returned home I had to check it out indoors, I was in search of things to take photos of in my house and came up with a new tea I bought today. It's pretty good but I'm sure it'd be much better if I didn't forget to take the tea bag out... I was too busy playing! 

I got my new lens just in time for the weekend! Oh, it's a Canon 70-200mm f1:4.

Thank you Joseph and Rick for helping me choose this lens, I'm sure I'll have more questions for both of you soon enough. ;-)

Alberta Beef

Tonight I finally cooked up some steaks on the new BBQ my children bought for me and they were delicious! 

Yup, Alberta beef, the best beef I've ever tasted.

More Tests

Today I had another test done, this one was something I've never experienced before. I was so nervous and scared that as the nurse was explaining the procedure to me I had a few tears slip down my cheek. I learned something today, no matter what education I have, no matter what I've experienced in life I will always be human with real feelings and it's okay to be human and show feelings. 

And here I am in hospital blue once again, they won't let me take my camera in the operating room, go figure! lol 

I know, horrible photo but it's my reality.

The nursing staff were phenomenal, they were right near at all times and even brought me one of those toasty warm blankets, I could have stayed sleeping there all afternoon. My son came to pick me up, I was in no shape to drive and I came home and went straight to bed. So here I sit in the middle of the night, quite awake and not wanting to do homework so it's off to watch a movie, hopefully with my eyes closed!

A Family Wedding

Yesterday I received a beautiful invitation to attend my Nephew and his Bride to Be's wedding. I LOVE the invitations and want to congratulate Amanda on doing such a magnificent job with these invites. I hope your day is as special as both of you are. Love and hugs sent to each of you from across the miles.

Another Election

Today in Canada we voted once again, this is the 4th time in 7 years. I say enough elections already. At an estimated $35 million per election I feel that this money could be put to much better use. We have people starving in Canada, what about housing the homeless or adding additional medical services which we are lacking? $35 million x 4 = $140 million dollars. Unreal. But I did my civic duty, I went out of my way to put an X in a small box, will it make a difference? Who knows, all I know is the voter turnout for the last election was something like 58% and seeings I was in the percent who chose not to vote I thought I'd make up for it this time. I tried to vote twice but they wouldn't let me! ;-)

I stand corrected, elections don't cost $35 million, I must have heard only what I wanted to hear... it's more like $300 million!

Feeding 100

Seeings blogger is cooperating and so is my internet and I have a photo from yesterday I figure why not post what I was going to when I sat at my computer last night so here it is...

I went to work for a few hours to help put together enough sandwiches and snacks to feed 100 people, we also had fruit and dessert trays as well as cheese, pickles and crackers. By the time I arrived at work there were two other ladies making sandwiches so it only took about an hour and a half and just like that everything was ready to go. Now that's my kind of a catering job!

Today I introduced my granddaughter to bubbles, the photos almost speak for themselves!

Grandma what's this?

This isn't making any sense at all, they were right there I know I seen them! Grandma are you playing tricks on me?
